I personally do think that fun should be apart of making art! I don't really understand people that don't have fun when there doing art! If your an artist and you choose to go into that area of artistry then you should love it! I don't think it should be a chore to try and love your art and your concepts. I think it is important for consumers to like and appreciate art but ultimately art is meant to be enjoyed by the artist and the viewer! The point or meaning of the work doesn't have to be understood by the viewer but only by the artist! This article has many interesting facts along with a good understanding that technology should be embraced as a new and encouraging way to make and create art!

Everyday things.

Design is extremely important in everyday life, almost everything we use is designed or has a design on it. Design is a way to advertise, to express, and to utilize everyday things. Donald A. Norman makes a good point in saying "Technology should bring more to our lives than the improved performance of tasks", he is right. Think about the new technologies that have recently been introduced for instance; the iphone. Not only does the iphone have its own unique structure but every app that is added to the phone had to have been designed from someone. The way the apps are designed makes a big difference to the company because you ultimately want people to buy or add the app. It is one thing to own a unique object but when that object is unique and has a purpose that is truly exploiting and understanding design.

Tea Infuser Evaluation

Tea Infuser Evaluation

Tea Infuser Evaluation

My tea infuser was a long barrel that you push to open. It then springs closed and stands up straight in the mug by leaning against the mug side. Function - The way the end opens up and you're able to scoop up the tea so you don't need a second tool to get the tea out of the bag. It also functions well as a stirrer. Perhaps the ease of taking the pieces apart for cleaning purposes could be improved upon. The springy action and versatility make this tea infuser enjoyable to use. When looking at my own designs, I would like something that is versatile, interactive, and enjoyable to look at. The one I was looking at before was sleek and high tech looking and wwhile simple in design, it still catches your eye.

Tea Infuser Evaluation

Capsule tea infuser with long handle:

1. Parts of the tea infuser that function well:
-The handle was very good for dunking
-The holes in the infusor were a good size for allowing the right amount of tea to be infused into the hot water
-The infuser compartment is small so it can be submerged
-When the infuser compartment is picked up it strains well
-Stands up on its own
-Maximizes the amount of tea leaves diffused into the water
2. Parts of the tea infuser that could be improved upon:
-The compartment where the tea leaves go in was hard to open
-Not a very fun, quirky, or pleasurable design
3. What makes the tea experience enjoyable:
-You can dunk it
4. How would you design a tea infuser to enhance the whole tea experience:
-By making an infuser that is equally as functional as the one I experimented with, but my design would be a more interesting/pleasurable experience. I would also make sure the tea leaves can be placed in the compartment with ease
